Expertise & Experience

At Shadbolt, we have been producing timber products of the finest quality for over 130 years. Over that time, we have worked on thousands of architectural projects, honing our skills and learning lessons along the way. It is this experience and expertise that make the difference in what we do.

BUILDING APPLICATIONS

Since our inception, we have been privileged to have been involved with thousands of architectural projects of every varying application. This has given us the experience and knowledge of how to approach different types of development in the best way, whether it be commercial, residential, education, healthcare, public or hospitality.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Our investment in research and development has been stepped up in recent years with the creation of a close-working team of specialists.

We are continuously extending our product range and advancing the levels of acoustic, mechanical, smoke and fire performance, ensuring our products meet the latest and forthcoming European standards.

FIRE TESTING

Shadbolt are the first UK door manufacturer to have undertaken a full programme of fire door tests to meet the latest European harmonisation standards. EN 1634 (which will ultimately replace BS 476: Part 22) introduces much more severe test conditions and is now recognised in UK Building Regulations.

Shadbolt welcome these more demanding standards because results show that our products continue to meet the highest performance criteria. Our programme of development and testing places us at the forefront of UK and European manufacturers of high-performance fire doors.

CONSULTATION & ADVICE

This website forms an introduction to the scope of our work. Once we are actively involved in a project we can advise on technical and aesthetic factors in the use of our products, and how best to achieve desired results in appearance, performance, and quality. Our advice can be particularly valuable in the design of complete assemblies: door, frame, panelling, glazing, architraves and ironmongery to meet performance requirements.

Answers to straightforward queries can often be given by email the same day, enabling design to proceed with confidence and without delay.

CE marking of doorsets

CE MARKING

CE marking is a Europe-wide system which gives the purchaser an assurance that a specific product is fit for purpose and is made under quality-controlled conditions.

CE marking for non-fire rated external doorsets is already in force, and CE marking for fire rated external doorsets is due to become compulsory from 1st November 2019, but the proposed CE marking for internal doorsets has been delayed.
