July saw us Audited to see if we could maintain our prestigious Gold FORS status, which is no easy task! Our Gold status is something we are immensely proud of and we work hard to ensure that we maintain the values set out by the FORS programme of, best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental awareness.
These values are ones also held by the Shadbolt business as a whole and we were delighted to hear that we passed our FORS Gold Audit with flying colours – well done to all the team involved!

World Cup fever hit the Shadbolt Team in July! We are a multi – cultural bunch here at Shadbolt’s so there was barely a match that went by when we didn’t have someone to support! With a TV installed in the Canteen and the Boardroom we had all areas covered so we didn’t miss a kick!
We even held a charity day to raise money for our chosen charity of PARC Essex raising over £100.
Well done to the incredible performance of the waistcoat wearing wonder that is Gareth Southgate and the whole of the England Team!

Scotland is a key market for Shadbolt and with this in mind, we will be in Glasgow from the 13th – 15th June at the #DesignPopUp at The Briggait, 141 Bridgegate, Townhead, Glasgow, exhibiting the best Shadbolt has to offer.

If you are in town and want to join us at the now famous, Prosecco and Parmesan Party on the 14th June, or come and hear some of the great speakers on the exhibition line up, please do get in touch as we would love to see you.

Shadbolt is a family run company with community at its heart, be that our fabulous community of staff and clients or, that of our local community in Braintree. So, with that in mind, every month the Shadbolt team have a charity day, where staff dress up and raisemoney for our chosen local charity, PARC Essex.

PARC (Essex) is a wonderful charity that aims to provide play and recreation facilities for children with additional needs in Essex and short break care for their families and carers. The Shadbolt team were delighted to present PARC with a cheque for £895.36 for the year so far and we look forward to continuing to support this inspiring charity throughout the rest of 2018.

March sees the arrival of some new machines in the Shadbolt factory. As our new offering VOS clicks into gear, the work coming into the factory is on the increase so, as we have done for generations, we have invested in technology to meet the challenge of this increase in work load.

The Veneer shop will be installing a new state of the art guillotine and gluing machine which will increase our work flow dramatically so, guided by our master craftsmen, our clients will be able to rely on Shadbolt’s renowned attention to detail delivered in a timely and efficient fashion.

February sees the launch of our new business venture, Velocity Opening Solutions, a new arm of the Shadbolt business offering value without compromise.

The VOS Collection has been specifically designed with commercial projects in mind and will be focusing on the design and build market outside of London.

The door styles have been created to work with architects’ and contractors’ standard door types to seamlessly fit into any commercial environment such as offices and hotels, higher education and healthcare environments can also be accommodated.

We are extremely excited about this new offering and look forward to expanding our market base throughout the UK and beyond!

2018 sees us welcome the 5th generation of the Shadbolt family into the firm. Simon's daughter, Alysa joins us, as Marketing Manager - with her extensive knowledge in the field, Alysa's brief is to modernise our Marketing and Social Media and work on giving the website a much needed update.

For her first year in the business Alysa will be working on the factory floor, drawing on the wealth of experience from our knowledgeable team and gaining an innate understanding of our wide range of products and services. Following on from that she will then work in every department of the business so that she has a full understanding of the unique Shadbolt offering and how we service our dynamic market.

Once up to speed, Alysa will be working alongside Simon and Paul to continue to propel Shadbolt forward into the future.

Over the year we have continued with our plan to smarten up the outside of the factory, culminating in the re-laying the car park area, re-fencing the perimeter of the factory and installing a grassed area, outside the reception.

This investment is to ensure that our staff have a pleasant working environment and that our clients have an introduction to the factory on the outside, that mirrors the high standard of work we produce on its inside!

November saw the return of the renowned Overbury Charity Music night with our Sales Director, Paul Shadbolt, on keyboards, helping out the house band up on stage. The standard of entertainment continued to be high and the Shadbolt team enjoyed a night catching up with familiar faces from the fit out industry.

Our staff are the heartbeat of our factory and so, we do our best, to ensure that they have a stimulating environment in which to work and we are constantly looking at ways they can be challenged and inspired outside of the usual working day.

As part of this initiative we recently held a ‘Performance Chemistry Workshop’ hosted by respected dietitian, Celynn Erasmus. With a focus on nutrition, Celynn’s workshop allowed staff to see that an investment in their nutrition would have a positive impact on their overall health.

In addition to this, the factory have also started a series of classes on meditation, which we hope will provide them with some much needed peace away from the hubbub of a busy factory.

We are often asked by clients how to accurately specify a Shadbolt product and so over the Summer we have updated our specification clauses on the website so ensure that they are clear and accessible to all.

Whether it’s a Shadcore FD60, a Shadsecure PAS24 security door or some Wood veneered acoustic panel lining, we have all the clauses readily available to you, in an easy to download format.

September marked 11 years since we moved the factory from Chingford to Braintree. In that time we have increased our square meterage  at the site, to accommodate the increasing demand for our services and invested in new machinery, to ensure that we remain at the cutting edge of technology in our industry.
